Myth exist in every society and basic constituent of human culture
According to Levi Strauss the fundamental structures of myth is the same throughout human cultures because of similar structures of human mind. The binary oppositions of good bad us and them, nature culture, white black, friend enemy make up fundamental structure of myth called mythemes. Study of myth can give an insight into human mind.

myth is not just speculation about order of things but it justifies existing things and supplies retrospective pattern of moral values.

Rituals

It is performance of ceremonial acts described by tradition, myth, or sacred duty.
Religious Rituals are done by manipulating religious symbols and religious symbols can be of two types

Imitative - patterned after a myth. Like New year ritual.
Positive - renewing ritual. Negative - involving avoidance or taboo
Sacrificial. Festival of Id.
